Each year on March 2nd, schools, libraries and communities nationwide celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Day, a part of the Read Across America initiative.
Launched in 1998, Read Across America is an annual reading program that calls for every child in the community to celebrate reading. For the third consecutive year, ReidGoodwin staff members volunteered to read and engaged in different literacy activities with students in local elementary schools in the Richmond area. They were able to choose a book and read to classes at Barack Obama, Miles Jones, E.D Redd, Broad Rock, Westover Hills and Blackwell Elementary School. ReidGoodwin is excited to be part of an event that encourages and emphasizes the importance of reading!
“Read Across America” supports ReidGoodwin’s community outreach program, “ReidGoodwin’s Reading Corner”. We started this program in 2018 with the mission to give back to Richmond public schools. At ReidGoodwin, we recognize the vital role these schools play in supporting our families and community. To participate in “ReidGoodwin’s Reading Corner”, schools submit a grant proposal describing how the $500.00 grant money will better enhance their library and reading programs.
We look forward to more opportunities to give back to our local schools and connect with our community. For more information on ReidGoodwin’s Reading Corner and how to get involved, click here!
