Can I Be Terminated for Filing a Workers’ Compensation Claim?

According to the Code of Virginia §65.2 -308, an employee cannot be terminated solely for filing a Workers’ Compensation claim. Throughout the workers’ compensation process, the injured worker has a right to seek out legal advice from a qualified firm like ours.

The whole purpose of the Virginia’s Workers’ Compensation Act is to protect the rights of workers and provide them with the necessary support when faced with work-related injuries. By firing the employee, it would not only violate the rights of the claimant, but also the purpose of the Act.
